Join the Sisterhood

1

WHAT IS RUSH?

Rush is a period during the first few weeks of school each semester for girls to get to know Greek organizations on campus. There are absolutely no obligations when it comes to rush. It's a great time to meet the sisters of alpha Kappa Delta Phi. Not to mention, all rush events are FREE!

HOW TO RUSH

Be yourself and help us get to know who you are as a person! We will be tabling on Speedway or in Jester everyday during orientation and rush! Attend two out of our four rush events and go through a casual interview process.

FAQ

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING aKDPhi?

Being a member of our sorority can offer many benefits. Joining a sorority can enhance your undergraduate life by:

a) expanding your social and professional network

b) allowing you to experience personal growth in dealing with a diverse group of women

c) offering you a chance to challenge yourself in leadership roles

d) creating friendships through sisterhood that will last a lifetime, and

e) so much more!

DOES ATTENDING RUSH COMMIT INDIVIDUALS TO JOINING THE SORORITY?

Though the weeks and events vary from chapter to chapter, participating in recruitment does not mean you are obligated to join. It is purely a time for you to explore your interest in alpha Kappa Delta Phi and determine if membership is something you would like to pursue.

DO I HAVE TO BE ASIAN TO JOIN?

Definitely not. As an organization that seeks to promote cultural awareness, we hold the concept of equality in the highest regard. alpha Kappa Delta Phi does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, age, national origin, or sexual orientation. We are an all-inclusive sorority. Any woman who shares similar interests and values is encouraged to join regardless of their own cultural identity. alpha Kappa Delta Phi is composed of the diverse backgrounds and lifestyles of each individual sister. Each member adds her unique experience and spirit to the sorority, building the sisterhood that we are so proud of. We encourage ambitious and motivated women interested in enhancing their college years (and beyond) to attend recruitment or start a chapter.

WHAT IS A BID AND HOW DO I GET ONE?

Every semester, the sisters of UT aKDPhi hosts four rush events. Come out to these events with NO obligations. It is a time to get to know the sisters and meet other girls who are interested in joining as well. There's also free food and free rides! You must attend 2 out of the 4 events and complete an interview to be eligible for a bid. To accept a bid or not will be all up to you!

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A NEW MEMBER?

The purpose of sorority education consists of education about the sorority and chapter. New members should demonstrate a desire and ability to support alpha Kappa Delta Phi's sorority standards. Hazing, defined as "any action taken or situation created to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule," is not condoned nor tolerated.

ARE THERE SCHOLARSHIPS?

Yes! We are the only Asian-interest sorority on campus to offer a scholarship EXCLUSIVELY to our sisters. Our National Alumnae Board also hopes to contribute to the successful future of exemplary active sisters who continue to uphold the standards and integrity of alpha Kappa Delta Phi. NAB currently offers a scholarship program in which actives can apply for at their website.
